2012 good or bad?09.01.2012
How will UK manufacturing fare in the Olympic year?
We have recently seen a shuffle round in the world's economies where China has overtaken Japan to have the second largest GDP and Brazil has moved in front of the UK. With manufacturing spreading in to new territories what impact will 2012 have in the UK?

If you listen to the news 2012 looks to be very gloomy indeed. Europe is struggling with the debt crisis, America's economy may have bottomed and China is also looking at a slow-down. However we are seeing a small boom in specialised UK manufacturing but it is very much dependant on the Eurozone.

If there is no resolution to the debit crisis and the Eurozone breaks up, world trade will quickly follow and put the UK amongst other countries into recession. However we have to remain positive that a solution will be found which will restore consumer confidence. If this happens economists are projecting UK GDP to grow by 1%.

On the back of a good 2011 Currie & Warner are waiting with anticipation to what will happen in the first quarter. Sales forecast for 2012 have dropped 9% on 2011's turnover, but this could quickly change if European leaders sort out the debt crisis.
