Currie & Warner recently received an intriguing email from an avid scuba diver in New York. He was on a dive off the coast of Long Island in a popular location where local divers are taken to a 128 year old shipwreck. The ship was the SS Oregon, a liner part of the Cunard Line built in Scotland in 1881. On his last dive he came across a metal object, a coat hanger. He collected it and returned to see if he could trace the origins. After removing the barnacles and polishing it quite a few times he could see a small marking stamp with Currie Warner Bham. After a quick internet search Currie & Warner popped up an an email was sent.
Currie & Warner was founded in Birmingham during the industrial revolution. Based in Birmingham it used to cast items from brass for local industry such as piano pedals, gas lanterns and yes coat pegs. Although Currie & Warner do not manufacture stamped products anymore we have stayed true to manufacturing items from brass. Over 158 years of manufacturing products around the world we still produce quality components that are built to last
