Build a career in precision engineering
Currie & Warner is a long-established UK precision engineering manufacturer producing high-volume, precision-turned components for demanding engineering applications.
Our apprenticeship programme is designed for people who want to learn, build real skills, and grow into capable engineers. We invest in apprentices because they become the skilled engineers our business depends on in the future.
Why Currie & Warner
We take apprenticeships seriously because our future depends on them.
At Currie & Warner, apprentices are not short-term help. They are developed with the long term in mind. You will train and work alongside experienced engineers, learn in a real manufacturing environment, and understand why quality, accuracy, and consistency matter every day.
If you commit to learning and developing your skills, there is genuine opportunity to build a lasting career at Currie & Warner.
Apprenticeships are part of our culture. Members of our leadership team, including our Managing Director and Operations Director, began their own careers as apprentices.
What you’ll learn
You will develop practical skills that are used every day in a precision engineering environment, including:
- Reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances
- Using measuring equipment correctly and consistently
- Supporting production activities under supervision
- Learning how quality, safety, and repeatability are maintained
- Understanding materials and why specifications matter
- Developing problem-solving skills and attention to detail
You will gain experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment, working with modern CNC and multi-spindle machinery across a range of engineering applications.
No prior experience is required. What matters most is attitude, reliability, and a genuine interest in how things work.
What the role involves
This is a hands-on role within a manufacturing environment.
Your time will be split between structured learning and supervised shop-floor activity. As your skills develop and competence is demonstrated, responsibility increases in a controlled and supported way.
You will never be expected to carry out tasks you have not been trained for. Progression is steady and based on what you can do, not how long you’ve been here.
Who this suits
This apprenticeship suits people who:
- Are curious about how things are made
- Enjoy practical, hands-on learning
- Take pride in doing things accurately and properly
- Are reliable, punctual, and open to guidance
- Want to build a long-term career in engineering
Your future at Currie & Warner
We invest in apprentices because they are part of our long-term workforce.
As your skills, confidence, and experience grow, there is scope to take on more responsibility, broaden your capabilities, and progress your career within the business. Many of the engineers we rely on today started by learning the basics and building strong foundations.
Successful completion of the apprenticeship can lead to permanent roles and further development opportunities within the company.
Support and development
You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship through:
- A dedicated workplace mentor or supervisor
- Training provider guidance
- Regular progress reviews and clear feedback
- Structured milestones so you always know what you’re working towards
Training is delivered in partnership with In-Comm Training Services, an established engineering training provider with strong links to industry.
Safety, quality, and wellbeing are built into the programme from day one.
We’re also happy to speak with parents or guardians to explain how training, supervision, and progression work.
